The International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) and the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) are seeking candidates to join the IFRS Taxonomy Consultative Group (ITCG) from 1 August 2025.

The ITCG is an expert consultative group that advises both the IASB and the ISSB on their digital taxonomies and related activities, such as promoting consistent adoption and implementation of the IFRS digital taxonomies.

ITCG members play an important role in reviewing IFRS Taxonomy publications and files as part of the IFRS Foundation’s due process. Their review helps to ensure the IFRS digital taxonomies are high quality and facilitate the digital consumption of financial statements and sustainability-related financial disclosures.

Benefits for members include:

  • having the opportunity to be consulted in the development of the IFRS digital taxonomies in accordance with the IFRS Foundation’s due process;
  • keeping up to date with important developments in this area; and
  • having the opportunity to build networks with other stakeholders in the digital reporting ecosystem.

The ITCG typically meets four times a year—including one in-person meeting. The meetings of the ITCG are open to the public.

ITCG members have diverse geographical and functional backgrounds to provide a range of perspectives. Based on the ITCG’s current composition, we particularly welcome applications from candidates meeting some or all of the below criteria:

  • experience using eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) or other computer-readable, structured data formats in their investment decision-making process or to support decisions made by investors;
  • experience using artificial intelligence or other emerging technology to extract and analyse information from financial reports;
  • experience producing, reviewing or assuring financial reports in a computer-readable, structured data format (for example, in XBRL or inline XBRL format); or
  • experience working in or with emerging economies that require or are considering the introduction of digital financial reporting requirements.

Experience with the IFRS digital taxonomies and technical knowledge of XBRL is desirable, but not required.

Successful candidates will be appointed for a term of one, two or three years. Members are eligible for reappointment, but cannot serve for more than six years.

In line with IFRS Foundation policy, ITCG members will not receive pay or reimbursement for travel costs or other expenses.

How to apply

Please email a cover letter and brief CV to itcg@ifrs.org, by 25 April 2025.

Any personal data supplied to the IFRS Foundation will be used only for ITCG candidate selection.
