The IFRS Foundation's Capital Markets Advisory Committee (CMAC) has appointed five new members: Chris Bamberry, Thomas Rahman, David Yangho Soh, Kei Tsuchiya and Marcel Voogd.
The CMAC is an independent advisory body established to provide the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) with regular input from an international community of users of financial statements.
Mr Bamberry is an Equity Analyst at Peel Hunt, a UK investment bank. He has over 28 years’ experience on both the sell and buy sides, having previously worked as an investment director at Scottish Widows Investment Partnership and Standard Life Investments. Mr Bamberry is currently a member of the UKEB Investor Advisory Group and CFA UK Ethics and Professionalism Steering Committee. He graduated from the University of Edinburgh with an LLB (Hons) degree in law. Chris qualified as a Chartered Accountant (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland) and is an Associate of the Society of Investment Professionals (now CFA UK).
Mr Rahman is the Head of Structured Finance & Real Estate Credit at Phoenix Group. He has over 20 years of credit, private credit, fixed income and restructuring experience. At Phoenix Group, he is responsible for credit risk and credit ratings oversight across several asset classes (and several jurisdictions) within the private credit and public credit space. Prior to joining Phoenix in 2021, Mr Rahman had stints at Moody’s, Brown Shipley, Neuberger Berman and Lloyds. These roles covered responsibilities within credit, private credit, fixed income and restructuring. He is a CFA Charter holder and a qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA) with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England & Wales (ICAEW).
Mr Soh is a Portfolio Manager and Head of Research on the Asian Equity team at RBC Global Asset Management. Based in Hong Kong, he focuses on listed companies across the Asia Pacific. Prior to 2014, he was with Credit Suisse (CS) HOLT as an equity analyst, specialising in quantitative investment strategies for Asia excluding Japan. Before joining CS in 2007, he started his career at McKinsey & Co as a management consultant. David has a Master's degree in investment management from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and a Bachelor’s degree in political science from Korea University.
Mr Tsuchiya has been working with the Securities Analysts Association of Japan (SAAJ) since 2020. He is responsible for corporate accounting, sustainability reporting and international relations, and serves as a member of the Accounting Standards Advisory Council and the Sustainability Standards Advisory Council at the Financial Accounting Standards Foundation (FASF). Prior to joining SAAJ, he had a 30-year career at the Industrial Bank of Japan (now Mizuho Bank), where he held various roles in corporate finance, derivatives sales and trading, asset management, risk management and compliance. He holds a Bachelor's degree in economics from Keio University, earned in March 1990, and is a Certified Member Analyst (CMA) of the Securities Analysts Association of Japan.
Mr Voogd, CFA is a Portfolio Manager at Bank J. Safra Sarasin, based in Zürich, where he is responsible for European equity strategies. Prior to joining the bank, he worked as a fixed income analyst and portfolio manager at Achmea IM, focusing on investment grade credit. Mr Voogd is a graduate of Erasmus University and holds Master’s degrees in financial economics, strategic management and financial law.
All the appointments are for a term time of three years (renewable once), effective immediately.
Thank you to Terence Fisher, Deirdre O’Leary, Philip Robinson, Sunil Singhania and Jeremy Stuber who all stepped down as CMAC members at the end of 2024.
