Call for members—IFRS Taxonomy Consultative Group

The International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) and International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) are seeking candidates to join the IFRS Taxonomy Consultative Group (ITCG) from 1 April 2024.

The ITCG is an expert consultative group that advises both the IASB and ISSB on their digital taxonomies and related activities (for example promoting consistent adoption and implementation of the IFRS digital taxonomies).

ITCG members play an important role in reviewing IFRS Taxonomy publications and files as part of the IFRS Foundation’s due process. This helps to ensure the IFRS digital taxonomies are high-quality and facilitate the digital consumption of IFRS disclosures.

• having the opportunity to influence the development of the IFRS digital taxonomies;
• keeping up to date with important developments in this area; and
• having the opportunity to build networks with other stakeholders in the digital reporting ecosystem.

The ITCG meets four times a year—the meetings are usually hybrid with one in-person meeting once a year. The meetings of the ITCG are open to the public.

Members will be selected to balance a variety of geographical and functional backgrounds. Given the ITCG’s current composition, we particularly welcome applications from candidates:

• with experience in using eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) or inline XBRL (iXBRL) data in their investment decision-making process (for example, asset managers);
• with experience in producing or reviewing their organisation’s financial reports in a digital format (for example, in XBRL/iXBRL format); or
• based in emerging economies that require or are considering the introduction of digital financial reporting requirements.

Experience with the IFRS digital taxonomies would be an advantage. Technical knowledge of XBRL is desirable, but not required.

Successful candidates will be appointed for a term of one, two or three years. Members are eligible for reappointment, but a member can serve for no more than six years.

In line with IFRS Foundation policy, ITCG members will not receive pay or reimbursement for travel costs or other expenses.
