On 3 November 2021, the IFRS Foundation Trustees announced the creation of a new standard-setting board—the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB)—to help meet the demand from international investors for high-quality, transparent, reliable and comparable reporting by companies on climate and other environmental, social and governance (ESG) matters. The ISSB builds on the success of the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) as well as the work of the Climate Disclosure Standards Board and the Value Reporting Foundation (formerly IIRC and SASB), which both consolidated with the IFRS Foundation in 2022.
The Technical Market Engagement Manager will work with the Director of Market Engagement and the ISSB standard-setting team to effectively facilitate technical feedback, communications and relationship management across internal teams and a broad external stakeholder base. This will include project management and stakeholder engagement. This role will establish outreach plans for external engagement to support standard-setting projects, bringing together standard-setting staff, communications staff and outreach staff. This role will also steward the ISSB Technical Reference Group (TRG), a consultative body that provides technical advice and support to ISSB and standard-setting staff.
The Technical Market Engagement Manager will be comfortable thinking and communicating with technical detail while also staying aligned with strategic priorities. They will enjoy relationship management and be comfortable speaking with a range of stakeholders. They might also bring direct experience facilitating corporate roundtable meetings or leading sessions designed to solicit stakeholder feedback. This is an exciting role for a person who likes to design and implement robust project plans to ensure they and others engage with external stakeholders successfully.
