This is the first quarterly summary of events involving the IFRS® Foundation's Asia-Oceania office (AO office) in Tokyo, Japan. Stay up-to-date with workshops, conferences, discussions and consultations that have taken place.
On 1 March, AO office Director Mitsuhiro Takemura and other staff members from the AO office visited the Taiwan Stock Exchange to learn about the experience and operation of electronic disclosures in Taiwan using XBRL. The AO office staff also participated in the IFASS conference held in Taipei City on 2-3 March and gave a joint presentation on electronic reporting of financial statements using the IFRS Taxonomy together with the director of the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
On 28 February, a workshop with users of financial statements was held at the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA). AO office Director Mitsuhiro Takemura and other staff members from the AO office attended the workshop, provided updates on discussions at previous workshops in Japan, introduced the International Accounting Standards Board's (Board) current disclosure projects and discussed issues of disclosure with participants that included Hong Kong investors, analysts and accountants.
On 8 February, Board Member Takatsugu Ochi and AO office Director Mitsuhiro Takemura attended the meeting of the Committee on Finance and Accounting of Keidanren, held at the Keidanren Kaikan Building, for discussions with the committee members.
On 6 February, the 10th IFRS Digital Reporting Workshop was held at the AO office. This is a gathering of preparers, auditors and users of financial statements to discuss the usability of IFRS financial statements in digital format. Vice-Chair of the Board Sue Lloyd, Board members Takatsugu Ochi and Chungwoo Suh and other staff members from the London office participated in the workshop via video conference.
The workshop was attended by regulators, standard-setters and stock exchanges, among others, from the UK, France, Hong Kong SAR, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines.
