Teresa Ko

Biography

Teresa Ko is Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer's China chairman and the founding partner of Freshfields’ Asia equity capital markets practice. Over her 25 years as a partner of the firm, she has advised numerous Chinese state-owned, privately-owned and multinational businesses on high-profile or ‘first of a kind’ securities transactions.

Ms Ko is a non-executive director of the Securities and Futures Commission in Hong Kong and a deputy chairman of the Hong Kong Takeovers and Mergers Panel. She also chairs the Investor Compensation Company Limited. She served as deputy chairman of the Listing Committee of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange from 2006 to 2009 and as chairman from 2009 to 2012.

Ms Ko previously served as a member of the Exchange Fund Advisory Committee of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and as a member of the Expert Advisory Committee for M&A by the China Securities Regulatory Commission.

She has a Master’s degree in law from the University of Cambridge.
