The IFRS Foundation supports academia and professional accounting institutes with equipping students studying IFRS Accounting Standards to apply the principle-based Standards issued by the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB).
Because the IFRS Foundation is a relatively small organisation with limited resources, we are unable to respond to enquiries from individual students. However, we offer student visits to the IASB and we have compiled a list of frequently asked questions we receive from students.
Student visits to the International Accounting Standards Board
The IASB is pleased to host in-person and remote visits for university student groups that are studying IFRS Accounting Standards. These visits consist of an interactive two-hour session with a member of the IASB and a member of the technical staff on the structure of the IFRS Foundation, the IASB’s work, current projects and technical matters. There is also time for student questions. The sessions often involve multiple universities, so students can also engage with and hear the perspectives of other students from around the world.
These visits are free of charge and take place at specified times, allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. However, if the pre-determined dates are not feasible, please still contact us with potential alternative times. Although we offer no guarantees, if there is sufficient demand, we may be able to move one of these pre-determined dates or open another session. However, during IASB meeting weeks, student groups are welcome to observe meetings, but presentations and discussions that are offered on other dates will not be available. The dates and times for 2024 visits are as follows. All times are in UK time zone (GMT from 29 October 2023 to 30 March 2024 and BST from 31 March 2024 to 27 October 2024).

To request a student visit, kindly email info@ifrs.org and provide the following information:
- Name of educational institution
- Which session you would like to attend
- Number of students attending the visit
- Name of course/syllabus
- Education level (i.e. undergraduate or postgraduate)
Requests for visits must be received at least three months before the date of the proposed visit.
