The IFRS Foundation has appointed 117 members to the IFRS Sustainability Reference Group (SRG). The appointed members will provide a diverse range of expert views to inform the development of IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards.
The SRG comprises a geographically and professionally diverse group of subject-matter experts in sustainability and general purpose financial reporting from 37 jurisdictions. Members serve on a voluntary, unpaid basis and are appointed in their individual capacity.
Sue Lloyd, International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) Vice-Chair, said:
With these appointments, the SRG provides a pool of expert resource the ISSB can draw upon as part of our standard-setting work and a vital resource for technical discussions on sustainability-related topics. We look forward to engaging with this diverse group, which includes preparers, investors, academics and consultants from each of the major regions across the globe. Their views will certainly contribute to the strength of our work.
The SRG is a reference group, members of which will be called upon to provide technical input. The ISSB and its technical staff will primarily engage with the group virtually and on an ad hoc basis through bilateral meetings or meetings with small groups of SRG members who have experience relevant to the discussion topic.
SRG members will also be invited to take part in quarterly public meetings to discuss updates on the ISSB’s activities. These meetings will be available to view on our website.
The IFRS Foundation went through a rigorous appointment process, issuing a call for members in early 2024, and selecting members based on the criteria for membership, the balance and diversity of the group and the group’s terms of reference.
