In conjunction with the IFRS Foundation Trustees meeting in Hong Kong on 31 January, the IFRS Foundation and the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA) organised a stakeholder dinner for companies, investors, regulators and others in Hong Kong with an interest in financial reporting.
The keynote speaker at the event was the Government of Hong Kong (SAR) Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po. In addition, Chair of the IFRS Foundation Trustees Michel Prada delivered the welcome speech, with HKICPA President Eric Tong providing the introductory remarks.
The speeches were followed by a panel debate moderated by Jennifer Hughes, Asia Finance Editor of Reuters. The panellists were Ashley Alder, Chief Executive Officer of the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong; Melissa Brown, Partner at Daobridge Capital; Hans Hoogervorst, Chair of the International Accounting Standards Board; and James Riley, Chief Executive Officer of Mandarin Oriental.
